When tears speak more than words (John 11)

Following the death of Lazarus – the one whom Jesus loved (v2) – his sisters, Mary & Martha had sent a word to Jesus about Lazarus sickness. But now he was dead!

v 33. When Jesus saw Mary weeping and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled……….then he wept! (v35).

Jesus did not offer a solution immediately, He Only Wept……he said and did later (calling Lazarus back to life). But first, he let his tears be his word of how sad he felt for losing a friend, and how sad he felt to see people weeping following the loss of a brother and a friend.

Many times those weeping, mourning, hurt, discouraged, addicted are not looking for solutions as a first priority to their sad situations but for someone who can empathize/feel (not sympathize) with them……. cry along, mourn along, walk along and feel with them.

(v24 Martha was okay that Lazarus will rise again in the last day; no one present asked Jesus to raise Lazarus, they only wished Jesus would have been present to heal him before he died).

After He wept (felt with them), he gave a solution, not a suggestion.
