2 Chronicles 20:1 – Moabites, Ammonites and Meunites were waging war against King Jehoshaphat of Judah. 3 Kings against 1!
v3 – Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire from God, proclaimed a fast and all the people in Judah sought the LORD through a fast (In calamities God is our refuge).
v6-12: Jehoshaphat’s prayer:
v15: Then Jahaziel, a descendant of Asaph in the Spirit proclaimed:
“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
v17: You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, (our battles are his battles).
v18: They all fell face down in worship before the LORD.
v19: The Musicians – Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with very LOUD VOICE (The greater the threat, the greater the praise).
v20: They set out to face the enemy, v21 with singers leading the army, as they praised the LORD for the splendour of His holiness.
The song of Asaph: “Give thanks to the LORD, for His love endures forever”
v22: When they were singing and praising, confusion fell into the enemies’ camp; and they started to slaughter each other. (The enemy could not understand how they were praising instead of quaking in fear).
v23: The plunder was too much to carry – equipment, clothing, articles of value, which took 3 days to collect.
v24: On day 4 they praised the LORD in the VALLEY (Lowest Point) of Berakah – Valley of Praise!
v27: They returned joyfully to Jerusalem, for the LORD had given them cause to rejoice over their enemies – with harps, lyres and trumpets.
v30: God gave King Jehoshaphat PEACE and REST on every side.
