Job 1:20-21: After Job received the sad news about the loss of hs livestock and children, he fell down in worship, acknowledged God and praised him.
Acts 16:25 – 34: Paul and Silas had been attacked, stripped and beaten with rods (severely flogged); then put in prison’s inner cell (darkest point), with their feet fastened in the stocks.
v25: About mid night (thickest hour), they were praying and singing hymns to God (giving thanks, confessions of faith, laments of faith); and other prisoners were listening to them (a moment to evangelize/honour God).
v26: Suddenly a violent earthquake happened (God shook the earth when visiting his servants), the prisons foundations shook, prison doors flew open (freedom had come), and everyone’s chains came loose (liberty).
The Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:16 to rejoice always, v17 to pray continually, v18 to give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for us in Jesus Christ.
At the end of His suffering, Job made a confession in Job 42:5 – “My ears had heard about you, but now my eyes have seen you.”
