Who is the Holy Spirit?
1. He is a person, has feelings, can become sad or angry and some insult and blaspheme against him.
2. He has intentions, shows wilfulness and discretion, loves, communicates, testifies, teaches and prays.
3. He was present during Jesus’ life on earth.
4. He works in the lives of believers
**Without the Holy Spirit, it is impossible to build the body of Christ.

**In order to receive the power of God, what is needed is a relationship with the person of the Holy Spirit, and not a religious formula.

10 Roles of the Holy Spirit
1. A helper who teaches (*parakleto * wise counsel*) and reminds us all that Jesus said – John 14:26.
( v5 – An advocate who helps and is with us forever).
2. Convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgement – John 16:7-8.
(v7 – It is for your benefit that I go).
3. The Holy Spirit dwells in believers and fills them. Is God’s presence in a believer’s life.
4. The Holy Spirit is a source of revelation, wisdom and power.
5. The Holy Spirit guides to all truth, including knowledge of what is to come and glorifies Jesus – spirit of truth. John 16:13-15.
6. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers – 1 Corinthians 12:7-11.
7. The Holy Spirit is a seal in the lives of believers – Ephesians 1:13, 2 Corinthians 5:5 – A deposit guaranteeing what is to come.
8. The Holy Spirit helps Christians in weakness and intercedes for them in accordance with God’s will – Romans 8:26-27.
9. The Holy Spirit makes believers new and gives them eternal life – Romans 8:10-11.
10. Sanctifies and enables believers to bear good fruit in their lives – Galatians 5:16-21, Galatians 5:22-25.

Titus 3:4-6 – We were not saved out of our good deeds, but by the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 19:2 – Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Then they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
Acts 10:38 – God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with Power – He went about doing good and healing all oppressed by the devil.
Matthew 7:11 – How much more will your father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
Luke 11:13 – He gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.
