Gideon – He was from the weakest clan and was the least in his father’s house.
Judges 6:12 – The angel of the Lord calls Gideon a mighty warrior.
v12 – Commissioned to go in the strength he had and save Israel from Midian.
v16 – God promises to be with him and help him strike the Midianites.
v27 – He tears ball altar at night out of fear.
v34 – God’ Spirit came on Gideon and he immediately sounded the trumpet and went for war against Midian.
Barak – Judges 4:8 – He was afraid to go fight Sisera without Debora.
v9 – Was not bothered with honour (a servant’s heart who allows honour to go to Deborah).
Samson – Judges 13: 5 – He was a Nazirite dedicated to God
v25 – The Spirit of the Lord began to stir him
Judges 16:20 – God’s spirit had left him.
v28 – Strengthen me once more he prayed.
Jephthah – Judges 10, 11:1 – Was chased away by his brothers, son of a prostitute
v3 – He fled and only a gang of scoundrels gathered around him and followed him.
v6 – People of Gilead request him to be their commander
v29 – God’s Spirit came on him to fight the Ammonites.
David – 1 Samuel 16 – Was the smallest and youngest in his family
v6 – David anointed as king; God does not look on appearance – Eliab rejected and the rest of the brothers.
v11 – David forgotten in the field and ceremony wouldn’t continue without him.
1 Samuel 22:2 – Those in distress, debts, uncontented (400) men are the ones who followed him when he was running away from Saul.
1 Chronicles 11:9 – He became more and more powerful because the LORD was with him.
