PREACERS OF RIGTEOUSNESS
We live in a corrupt and wicked world in need of salvation.
Luke 17:26 – Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the son of man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
How were the days of Noah like?
Who will sound the alarm like Noah did that judgement is coming? – Preachers of righteousness.
2 Peter 2:5 – Noah was a preacher of righteousness among ungodly people.
Genesis 6:9 – Noah was a righteous man, blameless and walked faithfully with God.
v11 – A preacher of righteousness when the earth was corrupt and full of violence.
v5 – Every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
Hebrews 11:7 – In Holy fear, Noah built an ark to save his family; he inherited righteousness in keeping with faith.
Our Days are like Noah’s Days:
2 Peter 2:1 – False prophets among the people who secretly introduce heresies and deny Christ’s divine power.
Romans 1:18 – Suppress the truth by their wickedness, v25 exchange God’s truth for a lie, worship created things and not the creator.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 – People don’t want to keep with sound doctrine, want teachers who will tell them what their itching ears want to hear – they want to hear myths and not the truth.
Romans 1:6 – We are the people to preach the truth unashamed.
**As preachers of righteousness, you must do your best to present yourself to God as one APPROVED, a worker who does not need to be ASHAMED, as one who CORRECLY handles the word of truth – 2 Timothy 2:15
**Opposition/resistance/challenges may come as you proclaim righteousness, but remember:
Joshua 1:7 – Be strong and very courageous, v9 – Do not be afraid, nor discouraged for the LORD will be with you.
God will preserve you like He preserved Noah.
1 Timothy 4:16 – Preachers of righteousness watch over their lives and doctrines closely, and preserve in them. By so doing, they save both themselves and their hearers.
Fighting the good fight of faith, taking hold of the eternal life to which we were called.
