Because of His Mercies
Mercy is God not giving us the punishment that we deserve for our sins. He has shown us mercy though we do not deserve. “The difference between mercy and grace? Mercy gave the prodigal son a second chance. Grace gave him a feast.” ¬Max Lucado¬
“Lord, have MERCY!” A sincere desperate prayer of FAITH.
A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly – Matthew 15:22.
¬Jesus healed her daughter¬
The blind Bartimaeus prayed Jesus for mercy so he could see – Mark 10: 47 “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” v48 “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
¬Jesus restored his sight¬
Jesus told the adulterous woman who was about to be stoned “Neither do I condemn thee. Go and sin no more.” John 8:11
¬She received mercy though she deserved death¬
By making sincere prayers of desperate need that flow from the HEART, we receive God’s MERCY and GRACE unto SALVATION .
We are because of His MERCIES:
His mercies never come to an end……. they’re new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).
“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.” (Psalms 130:3-4). ¬He’s merciful to forgive those who come to Him by Faith¬
For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them – Deuteronomy 4:31
When we pray for mercy he gives us for He is RICH in MERCY (Ephesians 2:4):
Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am faint; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are in agony. – Psalm 6:2.
O Lord, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death. – Psalm 9:13.
Through Christ atoning blood we can….. “approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation – Luke 1:50
By His MERCIES:
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit…..Titus 3:5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead….1 Peter 1:3
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy – Proverbs 28:13 (NIV)
God Loves MERCY:
With the merciful, you show yourself merciful – Psalm 18:25
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful – Luke 6: 36
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy – Matthew 5:7
I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners’. Matthew 9:13
