Worship refers to expression of reverence or adoration. Loving God for who He is and not for what He has given us.
a. Grateful submission to God through prayer, praise, silence in meditation and thanksgiving.
b. Responding in repentance and faith to the finished work in Christ.
c. Service as worship
Who do you worship?
John 4:22 ”You Samaritans worship what YOU DO NOT KNOW
v23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the TRUE worshipers will worship the father in SPIRIT and in TRUTH, for they are the kind of worshipers the father SEEKS *[God is seeking for worshipers]**
The unending worship in heaven:
Nature of worshipers:
a). Worship builds a stronghold/draws us to our stronghold or access to the Holy of Holies: Psalms 8:2, Psalms 100:4.
David the anointed of God knew how to deal with the enemies, through worship, running to the stronghold for strength.
2 Samuel 5:17 “When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, they went up in FULL FORCE to SEARCH for him, BUT David heard about it and went to the STRONGHOLD” (Refer also to Daniel’s routines in Daniel 6).
v18-25 From the stronghold, God told him what to do
Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and they are safe.”
When the enemy comes, where do you run to? What do you do? For Job amidst trials, he fell down in worship.
(Job 1:2021)
b). Worship gives us a crown of beauty instead of ashes, oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of despair.
Song: When the Oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with you above the storm, father you are king over the flood, I will be still, know you are God.
c). Through worship, we break through and not down
Isaiah 54:1 “Sing , O barren, you who have not borne! Break forth into singing and cry aloud…..” When you are barren in your life, and nothing seems to be working right, you can begin to “Break Forth into Singing and Cry aloud…”
The spirit that despises worship:
Spirit of Cain – Genesis 4:-5
Spirit of Michal – 2 Samuel 6:11, 20-23
Satan has always desired to be worshipped: Ezekiel 28:13-15, Isaiah 14:12-15
Worship today: It is majorly an attempt to do what one feels like. Revelation 920-21 shows that despite judgements and plaques, people will continue to worship idols.
