Numbers 6:2 Speak unto the children of Israel *,….shall separate themselves* from and *unto the LORD:*
We have God’s call to every believer to live a separated life.
Yes, separation from and to.
By a separated life we are to be separated from all that is contrary to God’s will, and separated to God Himself, for His use and for His glory alone.
God calls us to a new life with Him. It begins with separation.
Separation is holiness.
“ *As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.* ”(1Pet1:14_15)
Separation removes you from impurity, contamination, defilement, pollution and establishes you with God.
As Christians we are told by the bible to live holy lives that reflect the nature of God.
We are to separate ourselves from actions, influences, or people that will hinder our service to God.
*Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you*(2Cor 6:17)
When God says come out from them and be separate, He’s talking about separating from ungodly relationships and influences that are leading us into sin and away from God.
That influence can be a relationship, it can be a group of friends, it can be a place, it can be a habit, it can be a anything that influences us away from God and towards sin.
God predicates the call to come out and be separate with this promise;
“ *I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people* .”(2Cor 6:18)
