The Birth of the Church

In Genesis 2:15-25 (v21-22) we see God making a woman out of a Adam’s rib. (Eve comes forth from the Adam).

**Notice the joy of Adam in v23 – 25 !! 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. 25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

In Romans 5:12, 18-19 we see that sin entered the world through one man and death through sin. The trespass of Adam made all people to be condemned; while the righteous act of Jesus brings justification and life.

1 Corinthians’ 15:21 – 22 shows that death came into the world through a man (Adam), and resurrection through a man (Jesus).

–For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

v45 – 49 shows that the first Adam became a living being; the last Adam is a life giving spirit.

Reflection from v49: Do you bear the image of the heavenly man?

We see a picture of how the church was born in John 19:31-37, v34, v37 and in Revelation 1:7.

In John 19:34 we see “fluids of birth” (water & blood)  flowing from the ribs of Jesus. Blood for atonement or birth of the church, and water for impartation of life. v30 Shows this second birth of the church was finished.

As Eve came out of the side of Adam, so the church (spiritual eve)  comes out of the side of Christ.

–The first Adam failed, the second and last Adam will not. He cares for Eve and protects her from the evil one.
